STATUS UPDATE July 22: (what California can expect under a Trump presidency)
- Donald Trumps RNC speech showed that he supported white supremacism still by saluting Jason Aldean who wrote the song “try that in a small town”, and by sitting next to him and his wife, in his personal press box.
- Additionally Trump showed support for racism by talking about the President Eisenhower plan to deport Latinos that was called “Operation Wetback” and deporting US citizens who were Latinos.
- Additionally Trump saluted J D Vance, who only won his election by using fear mongering against Mexicans.
- About two weeks before the RNC – The Republican party has also endorsed project 2025, which directly talks about California as an example of a bad state, routinely throughout the document.
- Republicans plan to attack: Californians laws on clear air regulation, LGBTQ protections, support for abortion seekers, and support for undocumented who live in California.
- Republicans already love to hate on California as the example of Un-America, and because Kamala Harris will be running at the opposing candidate to Trump, the amount of CALIFORNIA -BASHING will increase between now and the election to levels never seen before.

Trump’s promises ‘largest deportation operation’ in America’s history BY FP Staff • July 19, 2024,

Trump’s reference to a massive deportation campaign harkens back to President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s era. “He had the largest deportation operation we’ve ever had,” Trump noted, aiming to position his future plans as even more ambitious. More than one million Mexican immigrants were deported from the US in 1954 under Operation Wetback, a campaign that remains one of the largest mass deportations in American history.

Project 2025 offers conservatives an attack plan for California. Will Trump take it? BY ANDREW SHEELER, Sacramento Bee, JULY 09, 2024

- The conservative architects of a plan — called Project 2025 — to radically re-shape the federal government aim specifically at California, promising to shake up the Golden State on issues ranging from students’ genders and pronouns to vehicle emission standards to abortion.
- The Project 2025 document, called “Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise,” name checks California as a state where educators are barred from informing parents about their child’s gender identity without the child’s consent.
- “In California, New Jersey, certain areas of Kansas and elsewhere, educators are prohibited from informing parents about children’s confusion over their sex if the children do not want their parents to know. Such policies allow schools to drive a wedge between parents and children,” the Project 2025 manifesto reads in part.
- The document calls on the next presidential administration to work with Congress to enact federal legislation banning school employees from addressing a student by their requested name or pronouns without express parental permission. It also wants to prohibit schools from requiring staff to use requested pronouns if it is contrary to the teacher’s religious or moral beliefs.
- The Project 2025 manifesto specifically calls out the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for adopting a policy prohibiting the sale of vehicles with internal combustion engines by 2035. “The federal government should therefore exercise its preemptive authority over CARB and take all steps necessary to invalidate any inconsistent fuel economy requirements imposed by CARB, including its ban on sales of internal combustion engines,” the document reads.
- California, which in 2022 enshrined the right to abortion in the state constitution, would be a prime target of the Project 2025 authors, especially as the state has become a destination for people across the country seeking legal abortions that they are unable to get in their home jurisdictions.
- “Because liberal states have now become sanctuaries for abortion tourism, (the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) should use every available tool, including the cutting of funds, to ensure that every state reports exactly how many abortions take place within its borders, at what gestational age of the child, for what reason, the mother’s state of residence, and by what method,” the document reads in part. In addition, the plan calls for Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to withdraw appropriated funding, including up to 10% of Medicaid funding, from states, like California, that require insurers to cover abortion services.
Project 2025, GOP platform blast California, teeing up critiques of Biden stand-ins By Kevin Rector, Los Angeles Times, July 14, 2024

- According to political experts, the conservative strategy of criticizing “woke” liberal ideas, many of which got traction in California, has become particularly useful in the current election cycle, as Trump’s base has proved especially receptive to conservative virtue signaling on issues such as abortion, climate change, guns, immigration and LGBTQ+ rights.
- Both Project 2025 and the GOP platform envision a second Trump presidency where federal bureaucrats use the powers of the executive branch to beat back an array of California policies — including protections for undocumented immigrants, the environment, unionized workers, those seeking abortions and transgender youth.
- “Instances of California really going in a different direction from what the Republican Party wants is all over the [Project 2025] report — everything from diversity, equity and inclusion, to connections to China, to high tech [companies] to homelessness,” said Bruce Cain, a political science professor at Stanford University.
- For example, Los Angeles and other major California cities decline to use their police forces or city personnel to enforce immigration laws. Trump’s platform promises to “cut federal funding” to such jurisdictions.
- California is in the process of reining in oil drilling in the state, with leaders raising concerns about the environmental and health impacts. The platform calls on the nation to “DRILL, BABY, DRILL.”
- Calling California and other liberal states “sanctuaries for abortion tourism,” the plan says the Trump administration should “push as hard as possible to protect the unborn in every jurisdiction in America,” work with Congress to enact antiabortion laws, and mandate state reporting of abortion data to the federal government — including patients’ state of residence and “reason” for receiving a procedure.
- Critics say such actions would empower conservative states that ban abortions to identify and punish women who go to liberal states such as California to have those procedures.
- Experts said that if Biden is replaced by Harris or Newsom — who are considered leading candidates amid a swirl of doubt about Biden’s age and ability to defeat Trump — conservative derision about California and its liberal policies will increase, and find a receptive audience in many parts of the country.
- A Times survey earlier this year found that 50% of U.S. adults believe California is in decline, with 48% of Republicans saying it is “not really American.”
Republicans see bashing California as a powerful political weapon. Here’s why by David Lightman, Sacramento Bee, JULY 21, 2024
https://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article290003129.html#storylink=cpy
- “So much of the Republican party identity has become cultural. California symbolizes the left for Republicans,” said Dennis Goldford, professor emeritus of political science at Drake University in Iowa. The California-bashing is particularly valuable to Republicans now. For the first time in decades, the state has two potential stars on the A-list of potential Democratic presidents: Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Gavin Newsom. And the California-as-cesspool chorus is led by the star of the convention and leader of the Republicans, former President Donald Trump
- None of this California-bashing is new. Forty years ago, even though Reagan was the presidential nominee, Republicans derisively talked about “San Francisco Democrats.” The term was understood to refer to all the cultural upheaval of the times.
- They haven’t let up. At the 1992 Republican convention, Pat Buchanan, who had mounted a spirited challenge to President George H. W. Bush, spoke about the town of Hayfork, California. He said it was “a town that is now under a sentence of death because a federal judge has set aside nine million acres for the habitat of the spotted owl, forgetting about the habitat of the men and women who live and work in Hayfork”.
- At the 2020 GOP convention, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s wife when he was mayor of San Francisco, gave a blistering speech tearing into California. “If you want to see the socialist Biden/Harris future for our country, just take a look at California,” she said.
