The goal of Calexit LLC is to promote the idea of returning California to its pre-union status, including (but not limited to) an initiative being filed asking voters if they would like California to be independent once again. We will raise awareness through education of the citizens on the issue and its multifaceted sub-dilemmas, the legality of approved secession from the union, CA economics in relation to global and national supply and demand, resource management, cultural awareness and diversity, and social/moral/ethical issues which have become problems through the adherence to the union of the USA.
This requires a great deal of education and promotion of certain ideas through various forms of communication, such as speeches, videos, and participation on social media platforms. In addition, live events, whose primary objective is to educate the public, will be pivotal to our goal. We will use these live, person events to teach interested citizens about the possibility of a ballot initiative being filed, why it would be a good idea for Californians to support this discussion about this particular initiative, and any other related topics and subjects that pertain to our goal or its outcome.
Our goal is not to directly convince everyone that California Independence is the right direction; rather, we aim to convince the largest possible number of Californians that this is a worthy conversation.
Through years of experience, we find that most of the public is not fully educated on the facts regarding a potential Calexit and are shocked when they do learn.
We anticipate that a population that is well-educated on the facts will, in all likelihood, logically choose to vote for CA independence and will also likely discuss this idea and the facts with other Californians.
Through thorough education and raising of public awareness, our goal to bring California, as a whole, together in exploration of our potential and future shall be realized.
DIRECTION OF FUNDS:
- All money given to Calexit LLC through this website is dedicated to the goal above.
- Donations and sales monies also go to the same goal.
- No donation is tax deductible.
- Sales of merchandise and other products aim to raise funds for the goals listed above and below and generally elevate the idea of a grand conversation based on the facts regarding California’s independence.
- We will publicly list the costs of all promotion projects and each endeavor’s goal(s) for all significant expenditures. Transparency promotes integrity.
Considering transparency: below is a list of possible events and expenditures that the company can already foresee:
Organizing in public under tent(s) with table(s), handing out literature (i.e. pamphlets, fliers, copies of initiative, etc.) related to the company and our goal(s), holding recruitment rally-style events in major cities, reforming and staffing our local chapters, and training fellow Californians how to have “the talk” with friends and family, as well as handing out information and answering questions about the facts throughout California.
This could include attending large public events, very small in-house style events, speaking at university campuses, or other large-scale events that may have various costs associated with gaining access. We anticipate that many events will be at public places where it’s acceptable to pass out literature, talk to people about how this conversation is worthwhile, and ask them if they are educating themselves about specific facts. When one holds events, a certain amount of promotional gear is recommended to have on hand to be effective. T-shirts, posters, flyers, tables, chairs, t-shirts, flags, banners. Things that go along with promotion can include free water to give out to the public, free California flags or pins, or something else that, in some way, we could tie to the idea of California as a promotional idea. Sometimes, this includes transportation costs and the cost of gathering significant human resources for an event, including food and other related items/goods.
Filing ballot initiatives aimed at educating the public about what is factually known regarding California’s independence.
Generally, promoting California independence is an idea worth discussing through various means (e.g., online and other media or in-person events).
Examples could include:
- Our push to educate the public about the constitutional case called Texas versus White, which said there was a legal path to secession until constitutional scholars admitted in the news that Texas v White did exist.
- Our specific messaging promotes the idea of a national divorce and relates it to personal divorce to evoke large-scale conversation.
- Another example could be appreciating that California has a unique and special culture not found anywhere else in America or the world. This could be done through almost any number of ways, such as songs, videos, shirts, clothing, popular culture suggestions, etc.
Though this idea is not the only way for somebody to develop a feeling of California nationalism, it is important because it provides a significant path toward encouraging more volunteerism as well as extra inspiration for different members who reach out to the public and talk about the facts related to the idea of California independence.
This will also likely include working in partnership with other groups, to some degree, who are either willing to let us discuss this message or willing to co-promote the message that this is a conversation worth having.
We always believed in partnerships with other groups willing to let us discuss the facts of independence or at least provide some shared space for this discussion. However, it is typically our policy not to work with anybody blatantly espousing anti-California values unless there is some key strategic or legal reason.
Growing the major social media channels large enough to gain attention from the media and the public and affect conversations at those scales.
We do this because it seems apparent that certain social media platforms with a large enough base can affect national and California-wide conversations. Given that our goal is to educate most Californians on the idea of Independence and the facts we know about it, we need to change the conversation about the public’s understanding of specific facts. One of the easiest ways, available to common class institutions (such as ours), which are very “grassroots,” is through using particular popular social media channels.
Currently, Twitter and YouTube are the primary social media channels.
However, we are constantly growing and hearing new suggestions about channels to enter significantly.
Additionally, it should be noted that if there are enough funds and many projects to handle, we must pay staff to achieve professionalism. However, monies are anticipated to be spent directly on promotion and vehicles, not on staff, until finances allow more flexibility. Any staff or specialist hired and paid from funds from the website would be announced to the public, and their job description, as well as how it directly aids the goals above, would also be made public.
Change to this list will be unlikely. However, we reserve the right to change the goals and direction of funds. We would only do so after a very strong public awareness campaign that we were thinking of making such changes, with ample time for public feedback before any decision is made.
Currently, we don’t anticipate any changes. This list above is based upon our experience over a decade working with the public, media, and online spaces to raise awareness successfully.
We believe it represents what, in a very practical sense, will be needed to spread awareness of the righteousness of having a conversation about Calexit. This list may not be completely comprehensive, but it does cover our aims and intents for the immediately foreseeable future.
